Where does it come from and what challenges does it pose to designers in the automotive industry?

Automotive is a highly competitive sector. If you want to operate in it, all components—manufacturing, supply chains, innovation, quality—must work perfectly. There is no room for error here, but there is the possibility to develop thanks to Industry 4.0.

The automotive industry is making ever higher demands on suppliers and contractors due to the dynamics of the sector. Everything is changing; modern technologies are entering the game. In order to stay on the market, one has to be able to optimize costs without reducing the quality of goods.

Scientific research has proven that listening to properly chosen music while driving a car relieves the driver’s stress and thus reduces the emotions on the road. However, a good audio system is not enough to achieve this effect. It is also necessary to optimally soundproof the cabin, which can be provided by components made of modern EPP foams used in its construction.

It seems that much has been already said about ergonomic car interiors and the limits of possibilities have already been reached. A great role in this process is played by modern plastics and especially by the light expanded polypropylene (EPP).
